2014 was a great year for Photography by Angela Tucker. I am just so thankful. For the past few years I have only taken 8-10 weddings per year so I that I can keep a good balance of wedding and portrait work, as well as make sure my home life is well taken care of. But something happened to me in 2014. I fell in love with wedding work all over again. My couples were just so wonderful to work with and their weddings were just so fabulous that I could not picture myself only shooting 8-10 weddings this year. So in 2015 I am capping off at 15 weddings. This is going to mean some changes in my portrait work in terms of cutting back, but I am so thrilled to take on a few more couples and amazing weddings this year. If you are interested in booking for 2015, there are only 4 spots left so get in touch with me!
Some of my favorite things that happened this year business-wise:
- Mine and Matt’s goal setting date last January at Village Tavern. (I am so happy to say many of the goals we set were accomplished) Now, I must plan one of these dates for this year.
- First print publication in Charlotte Wedding Magazine and 2 more features in Carolina Bride. Thanks to these wonderful publications for sharing the stories of my awesome couples!
- The Trevor Daley Workshop. Man, this workshop gave me a boost going in to 2014. I really credit many of the goals I set to this workshop, and after attending my workflow got so much faster. Thanks Trevor!
- The birth of Knox Ezekiel. Ok, I know this is not business related but how could this not be on my list of top things that happened? He is just the best.
- The McClungs family shoot in memory of Ezekiel. This is a personal and business one but 2014 for will forever be impacted our sweet Zeke. Click on the link to read more.
- The most awesome clients in the world. No really, they are the best. I have so many repeat portrait clients that I LOVE and have gotten to see grow, change, add babies, move homes, etc… And as I said, my wedding couples have given me a new love for weddings. A sincere thank you to each of you who entrusted me with your most treasured memories this year. I love you all.
I have been way behind on blogging as I wrapped up all my 2014 edits but that changes today. Stay tuned for lots of new blog posts coming your way and also some new things happening in 2015!
Samantha and Brian’s wedding day was wonderful. Set at Samantha’s parent’s gorgeous Lake Norman front home and catered and planned by the one and only Trump National Golf Club, this day went off without a hitch. Samantha and Brian are so in love and it shows in each of these images. They are also expecting their sweet girl, Ellie Marie is just a month or so, which might be why Samantha has such a beautiful glow. I just love so many things about this elegant backyard wedding, it was our first really fall day of the season and the decor fit perfectly.
The Porter’s are the incredible family behind one of my favorite wedding venues, The Farm at Brusharbor. And let me tell you, they run this place like a well-oiled-machine. It is one of my favorite place to shoot weddings not only because their land is GORGEOUS and offers so many photo options, but also because they are some of the best in the business to work with. There is lots going on behind the wedding scenes with the Porter’s with new babies on the way and one super excited big sister/cousin.
I have had the opportunity to shoot a good many large families lately and it is so wonderful to see the how close these families are. The Porter’s are no exception so enjoy the images of their sweet family. And be sure to check out their website if you are looking for a wedding venue!
Derek and Kelly. Goodness, these two are adorable. I have known Derek since college and it truly did my heart good to see him with his lovely bride, Kelly. She really is the sweetest ever. Their wedding day was back in June but I have been so bogged down with shooting that I have not tended to blogging the way that I would love liked. This is the perfect post for getting back on track!
With 70 degree weather, an adorably fun wedding party and sweet spirits of the bride and groom, this day could not have been anymore perfect. Congrats, you two. Let’s have dinner soon!
Misty and Shane’s reception felt like a rockstar party. And it was awesome. Their friends are family love to have a great time and we had a good time right along with them. Their reception was held at Vivice Charlotte with a perfect view of the Charlotte Skyline. The balcony was lit by the city lights, it was so beautiful. We also got the opportunity for more portraits with these two atop a parking deck with another perfect city view. I loved everything about this uptown reception.
Enjoy!
Misty and Shane’s wedding was a amazing day. These two are some of the nicest people I have ever met and it really makes me sad that their wedding is over and I won’t be seeing them regularly anymore. They are just that great. You may remember their engagement session when you see their very unique cats again. Had to get these two in a few shots! Misty and Shane’s ceremony was held at St. Mary’s Chapel with a very special group of family and friends. And although these special people were involved in the wedding in various ways, these two elected not to have bridesmaids and groomsmen. This gave us tons of time for some really intimate shots of the bride and groom in a couple different locations. I loved having the amount of time with them that we did and although having a wedding party is fun, this was a nice breath of fresh air!
Both Misty and Shane are incredibly stylish people and their elegant uptown wedding was that and more. You will see more of this tomorrow when I post their uptown Vivace Charlotte wedding reception, so be sure to stay tuned!
These were the looks on Misty’s loved one’s faces when they saw her. She was truly a stunning bride.
The shot of the left is Misty’s dad’s signature, who passed away years ago. Misty was very close to her daddy and this was such a special way to remember him as she walked down the aisle.
Kathleen and Brandon’s reception was a BLAST. The only thing that topped that (for me!) was the gorgeous light we had for bride and groom portraits and the fact that K&B wanted to come out during sundown for more beautiful portraits by the rose bushes in full bloom. It really was so much fun and I think these images show that so well. Some of my favorite reception images ever.
Congrats, Kathleen and Brandon! You both are so great to work with. Please keep in touch! :):)
Kathleen and Brandon are such a sweet couple and their wedding day was equally as sweet. When I arrived it was raining and it didn’t stop until about 15 minutes before the ceremony. So Kathleen and Brandon’s venue, Alexander Homestead, did everything they could to move the wedding back outdoors in just a matter of minutes. They even had high-powered blowers going to dry off chairs. Everything went off without even a hiccup and the overcast skies made for some gorgeous portraits. All in all, a wonderful day! Stay tuned tomorrow for Part II of this lovely wedding and some gorgeous portraits of the bride and groom. A full list of vendors is location at the bottom of this post!
Enjoy!

And the fairytale wedding continues… Click to see Part I here. I had such a great time shooting Megan’s bridesmaids with their pretty puffy dresses and of course it is always wonderful to have ample time to shoot the bride and groom. And then there were the details- soft pinks and creams, the perfect combination of burlap and lace. There were SO many and all so so pretty. I’ll let you see for yourself.
Congrats to a beautiful couple!
Megan and Steven are just adorable. Their magical Saratoga Springs wedding was incredibly beautiful and such a good time. And when I say magical, I’m talking soft blush pinks, lavenders, tulle and a horse and carriage. As I was getting to know her family, Megan’s mom told me that this was Megan’s dream wedding. It really was the kind of wedding that every little girl dreams about. I am so happy to have been apart of this dream come true for both Megan and Steven. These two elected to do a first look and it was such a sweet moment to photograph from afar. Such and intimate moment between bride and groom. The first look also allow us ample time for portraits of Megan and Steven together so stay tuned for more tomorrow.
Congrats you two! Thank you so much for allowing me to be apart of your most special day.
